Effective ways to stop snoring

If you have been looking for ways to stop snoring, but keep coming up short on results, don’t give up hope. There are actually many ways to stop snoring and some of them can even start working tonight.

One of the best ways to stop snoring is to change your sleeping position. If you constantly find yourself sleeping on your back, try resting on your side instead. Studies show that people who sleep on their back are more likely to snore than those who do not.

Another of the most effective ways to stop snoring is to elevate your head by several more inches with the use of a second pillow. If you currently only use one pillow, try using two instead.

Did you know that obesity plays an important role in everything that you do, including snoring? Not many people are aware of this, but being overweight is one of the leading causes of snoring.

Therefore, weight loss is also one of the best ways to stop snoring. A well-balanced program of diet and exercise may help you to shed some pounds and curb your snoring problem while also helping to deter future medical problems.

If you have allergies, consider the use of air filtration units to help rid your home of airborne allergens. In addition, removing dust, pet hair and cigarette smoke will help you to breathe cleaner air.

By doing so, allergy conditions may improve along with snoring. The reason is because snoring is often the result of restricted airways, which is made even worse with the presence of allergies.

If you want more definitive results, or are looking for additional ways to stop snoring, consider purchasing an anti-snoring device.

One such product, fittingly titled the Sleep Genie, usually works it magic on the first night. It’s sleek nylon lycra blend design comfortably supports the jaw while keeping the mouth closed.

Have you ever tried to snore with your mouth closed? Exactly! It isn’t possible, which is why the Sleep Genie is one of the ways to stop snoring and start regaining comfort through the night.

This article is intended for informational purposes only. It should not be used as, or in place of, professional medical advice. Before beginning any treatment for snoring, please consult a doctor for a proper diagnosis and remedy.

How to spot a fake spam software

Spam blocking is not as hard as it sounds, or as you might think it is. It is actually as easy as one, two, three. You do not need to search the whole wide world looking for a solutin to your spam problems. It also does not require you to purchase or buy different kinds of tools, not to mention expensive ones. All you need is an effective spam blocking software and those spam mails that you hate to receive but, unfortunately for you, you still receive, are assured to be blocked.

However, there is still a hard part when it comes to spam blocking. This hard portion is not involved in the installing or in the downloading. It is concerned with the "choosing" of the spam blocking software that you want to install in your computer's system. Since you are to download and install certain spam blocking software to make your life easier for you, you have to make sure that you are about to download a "true" spam blocking software.

Why use the word "true"? Are there "fake" spam blocking software? Well, you would be surprised to know that yes, there are fake spam blocking software. What do these fake spam blocking tools do? Simple. They just pretend that they block spam, but actually, they do not. They just pretend that they are spam spyware, but they know, or do, nothing that is in any way related to blocking spam. These fake spam blocking software are branded to be dummy spam spyware.

They are not really able to detect whether a certain spam mail is indeed spam or not. They are just dummies, acting on their "boss's" call. If the boss, in this case, the spammer himself or herself, modifies the dummy to make believe that it is blocking spam mail, then that is exactly what it is going to do.

Downloading dummy spam spyware is very much useless and pointless. You wasted money, if ever you had to pay a big amount of money for its purchasing, downloading, or installing. You wasted time for doing all the aforementioned activities. And not just that, you also had you pride hurt for having been deceived by a dummy.

Be more scrutinizing in checking certain spam blocking software, because if you do not, then you just might not realize that the software you purchased is a dummy spam spyware. So think twice before buying software.

What is home owners insurance

Home owner's insurance can mean different things to different people depending on the type of policy that is in effect. The two things that all policies do, or at least should do, are protect the home in case of damages, and protect you from personal liability should someone be injured while on your property. This article will examine some of the issues concerning home owner's insurance and perhaps answer some questions you may have on the subject.

When it comes to asset protection, how much insurance do you really need? That is a question that many home owners ask. With home owner's insurance it should be remembered that the more coverage you have the less money you will have to pay out of your own pocket should something happen. You should spend some serious time calculating how much cash you would have if you needed to make repairs and then adjust the level of coverage to that.

You should also ensure that you have enough coverage to handle any personal injury claims that may come your way. If you are not sure about how to do this, sit down with your home owner's insurance agent and have him or her go through the numbers with you.

In most cases where there is a mortgage outstanding, the lender will want you to have at least enough coverage to cover the remainder of the mortgage. However, do not let this minimize the coverage that you feel you really need. In other words, if you need more insurance than what the lender requires, then get it. You will sleep easier.

There are some issues that affect the price of home owner's insurance as well. For example, brick homes are usually less expensive to insure than frame (wood) homes. Older homes, especially those in disrepair, may cost substantially more to insure than newer homes. Some newer homes may qualify for discounts and you should ask about that if you are building or moving into a new home. These discounts can add up fast and save you a lot of money.

There are some common (or basic) types of coverage that most homes need. These include property damage, living expenses, medical payments, personal liability to name a few. You want to get as much coverage as you can for the money you are spending.

If you live in a flood prone area, you will want to ask about additional flood insurance. Do not assume that your basic home owner's policy has flood insurance. Chances are very good that it does not.

Home owner's insurance is there to protect you, to protect the lender, and to protect anyone who may be visiting with you in the event they are injured. It is one of the most important forms of insurance that a consumer will buy. The type of policy and the riders associated with the policy should be reviewed and chosen with care. You do not want to find out later that your home is not covered for something that you assumed it was covered for. When a mortgage is paid and there are no liens on a home, home owner's insurance is not mandatory, but home owners should consider carrying it anyway because the cost of having it is far less than the cost of replacing a home and everything within the home out-of-pocket.

Internet-marketing-33

Internet marketing is a tough business, no matter what your product or service. A solid business plan and marketing strategy are fundamental to a successful internet marketing campaign. There are several areas you need to have rock-solid and tested before going live.

Most internet marketing entrepreneurs know that the key to success lies in planning, coordination and testing prior to implementation. Once you “go live”, you'll have to live with your mistakes. The better your planning, research, targeting your audience and testing the waters, the greater your chances of success. So how do you put together a successful internet marketing campaign?

First, you must accurately determine your market. Who wants to buy your product or service? If you want to succeed in internet marketing, you must have a crystal-clear picture of your target market.

One terrific tool is the online survey. Many are available, some free and others offering a 30 day free trial. Look into these, as the information you'll gain will pay off big-time in honing your internet marketing focus.

Another source of information critical to targeting your market is demographics. If your product is pet products, do a search on ”demographics pet products”. This search yields age groups, income, product favorites, regional needs, the industry and your competition. All valuable information for a successful internet marketing effort.

Cost-effective planning is paramount to successful internet marketing. You don't need a huge advertising budget to start. If your marketing plan is solid, don't be in a huge hurry to spend on advertising. Instead, spend your money and effort testing small distributions of copy in ezines directed at your target audiences.

Vary your copy and see which pulls best. You may be surprised at the results, but it's all part of your internet marketing strategy. Use what sticks and discard what doesn't. Test everything on a small scale. Remember that effective copy can make or break your internet marketing plan! When inquiries and sales start flowing in, your internet marketing plan is becoming a success!

Once you've found your niche, and can speak to your audience, in an engaging and conversational tone, you're just about home free!

Your customers want to know you, and if you capture their attention, many will become loyal devotees, eager to buy your product or service.

Once you go live, continue to solicit feedback from your customers and subscribers. Use online forums and message boards relevant to your product or service. You can glean valuable tidbits from people in these venues. Post survey forms on your own site with a prize for a randomly chosen participant.

Last but not least, investigate free email courses from internet marketing experts. Web Biz Space University is only one of many, offering various courses at no cost. Always remember, planning and research are never wasted effort.

Accessories you need before bringing puppy home

Pet accessories are an important part of taking care of your dog. Generally we use accessories to accentuate the beauty of things. When it comes to pet care accessories are used to protect your pet from harmful elements. You can also gain a lot of satisfaction from buying accessories for you pet. There is a wide variety to choose from and you might wonder where to start, particularly if this is your first pet.

Here are some tips on what to look for when choosing accessories for your pet:

1. Food and water bowls:

The most important thing about choosing good bowls is that they are not easily tipped over. You will probably want to check that especially the water bowl is pretty sturdy. It's vital that your dog has free access to water at all times and one of the ways people are doing this is by buying large water systems for their pets. Much like human watering systems these will keep your dog with fresh water for longer.

2. Dog Collar:

Whether you want a plain or fancy variety - collars are important and will be an item you use daily. This means the comfort and fit are important. Experts recommend a space between the dog’s neck and the collar to be at least 2 fingers wide. A collar should never be too loose or too tight. Make sure you get a good fit and take your dog along when you buying a collar.

3. Dog leash:

It's not hard to choose a leash - you just want to keep in mind that it needs to be strong enough to hold your dog. Leashes are often sold clearly marked with the breeds the leash is suitable for.

4. Grooming accessories:

Depending on the kind of breed you have the amount of grooming accessories needed will vary.

If you have a dog that will need relatively little grooming, that is with a short coat, then you will need only a basic toolkit.

You will need

- dog shampoo

- dog clippers

- styptic powder

- dog toothbrush

- dog toothpaste

- dog brush or comb

These are the basics. There are many other products you can use to keep your dog clean and fragrant. If you have a more high maintenance dog you will need these plus a wider variety of brushes and combs to care for your pets coat and grooming needs.

5. Dog houses:

If your dog will be sleeping outside then it’s important that they have their own place for shelter. A dog house will keep your dog out of the harsh sunlight or rain or even snow. When choosing a dog house try to choose the right size. The dog should fit snuggly inside with enough space to move around.

6. Dog beds:

If your dog will be spending time inside it's also a good idea to buy a dog bed. This gives your dog a 'retreat' and they will value having their own comfy space where they can go when cold or sleepy. Again just try to choose the right size. Many dog beds are designed for specific breeds so you won't have a problem finding a bed for your dog.

7. Dog toys and treats:

Most dogs love playing, and just like children, love being spoilt. It is especially important if you are away for long periods of time that your dog has something to play with. It's best to give them a variety of toys; this will keep them away from your slippers!

Again the most important thing is the size. Treats and toys should be size appropriate. If the toy is too big they won't be able to play with it and it won't be fun for anyone.

There is a wide variety of toys for you dog to chew, play and bite. Spend some time choosing some fun toys for your dog.

These are the most important accessories you will need for your dog. There are many more things you could buy your dog but by catering for the items on this list your dog should have everything he needs to be a healthy, happy dog.

Nine reasons why mentoring matters to you

:
There are many roles we play or hats we wear in our lives. We are professionals, family members, brothers, sisters, co-workers, leaders, coaches, friends, parents, and neighbors to name just a few. While you may not wear all of the hats I listed, you can likely add several more that I left out! Many of these roles are a given – we don’t have much choice of having the role – they come with being a responsible adult.

Because of these many roles, we find ourselves very busy. Many tasks and priorities find us perhaps busier now than we have ever been before!

With these two factors, many roles and little time, it may seem absurd to write an article that encourages taking on yet another role and adding another task to your over-booked calendar. But that is exactly what I am going to do. In this article I’m going to show you why, despite the competition for our time and energy, being a mentor is one of the best things you can do.

There are many reasons why being a mentor is valuable to the other person. They get the value of your expertise, knowledge, and experience. They get a chance to advance more rapidly and create greater success than they would have been able to without your insight and advice. While these are altruistic reasons, they don’t say anything about how you benefit. And while we all like to help others, sometimes we need to see what is in it for us as well.

There are benefits to you personally to spending your time and energy, sharing your expertise with others as a mentor. In fact, there are at least nine benefits that you might derive from being a mentor. These include:

You’ll develop a close relationship with your mentee. We can never have enough close relationships. And chances are the person you mentor will be someone you benefit from being around. After all, they are interested in improving themselves, care about learning, and are likely excited about the possibilities in their future. Which brings me to the second benefit…

You’ll be re-energized personally. Get around someone enthusiastic, and you naturally become more enthusiastic yourself. Some activities sap our energy while others spark it. Being a mentor is like carrying a book of matches with you. If you want to re-energize yourself to your own possibilities, be a mentor.

You’ll increase your commitment to your own career and organization. This one applies most if you are mentoring in a business situation. You can see how this would happen – as you get more enthused, you see new ways you can contribute. You see how your mentee can make a difference in the organization and this new vision will increase your commitment.

You’ll learn more by talking about and teaching things. It is funny how our brains work. When we teach something or explain something to someone else, we then understand it more clearly ourselves. As a mentor you will relive experiences, teach or share ideas. And when you do this you will learn and re-learn these concepts for yourself. Often you will find yourself “taking your own advice” to your great personal or professional benefit.

You’ll expand your impact in your organization. Not only will your personal commitment grow, but as you help others be more successful, the organization will succeed at higher levels. Think of the satisfaction you will get from knowing you are playing a part in making that happen.

You’ll enhance your self-esteem. It just feels good to help others. You will feel better about yourself and your abilities when you share your wealth of knowledge and experience with others. Your self esteem will rise because you are doing good things for someone else.

You’ll increase your skills. As you mentor others, you will become a better mentor. The skills that make you a better mentor; empathy, listening, caring, building trust (to name just a few), make you more effective in many other parts of your life. Being a mentor is actually great training in itself!

You’ll grow more confident. The culmination of many of these other benefits is that your confidence will increase. You’ll be more confident in many sorts of interpersonal relationships and conversations. You’ll know that you can have a positive impact. You’ll know that you can make a difference.

You’ll leave a legacy. Successful athletic coaches do more than grow their teams and win lots of games. The best also create a linage of coaches that leave their staff to become head coaches as well. This is an important legacy that they leave – a statement of their influence and impact. By mentoring others with care and compassion you will be adding directly to your legacy.

Take minute now to be selfish. Think about yourself as a mentor. Identify what you see as being in it for you. Envision how it will feel to give back to someone else. Then go out and become a mentor – you, along with your mentee, will be glad you did!

How to build and shoot a marshmallow gun

:
Marshmallow blow guns are safe and fun for boys and girls of all ages. Even dads will enjoy this toy. A marshmallow gun or shooter is a terrific Christmas, birthday, or anytime gift.

The first marshmallow blow gun I ever received was at a birthday party. We played “Capture the Flag” with marshmallow guns. After the party, we all received a marshmallow gun for a party favor.

If you want to know how to build and shoot a marshmallow gun, the plans are below. Learning how to build and shoot a Marshmallow Gun without plans can be
tricky, so we are giving the Marshmallow Gun-Shooter Plans to you for free!

Building the Marshmallow Gun

1. Buy 1/2 inch PVC pipe, 2 PVC elbows, 2 PVC T’s, 2 PVC end caps, spray paint, marshmallows (ammo)
2. Cut your PVC pipe however long you want the barrel.
3. Cut four pieces of PVC pipe 1/3 of the barrel, two for the handles and two for connecting pieces of PVC pipe together. Cut one piece 1/3 of your handles. Cut tne more piece of PVC pipe 1/2 of your barrel.
3. Get two T’s, two elbows, and two caps. Place the smallest piece of PVC pipe in between the two T’s. Now put two of the PVC pipe (1/3 size of the barrel) on top and bottom of the T’s. Place a cap on the bottom PVC pipe and an elbow on
the top PVC pipe. Put the barrel in the t that’s PVC pipe has a cap on the end of it.
4. Now, place the PVC pipe that is 1/2 of the barrel on your elbow. Put a PVC pipe (1/3 size of the barrel) in the other t. Place an elbow on the end of your PVC pipe that is 1/3 size of your barrel.
5. Place the last PVC pipe (that is 1/3 the size of the barrel) on the T. Place the last cap on the PVC pipe that is a 1/3 size of the barrel.
6. Now that the pieces are all put together start spray painting the marshmellow
gun. The marshmallow gun can have designs. If you want designs, cut shapes out on a piece of paper, and spray paint through the paper on to the marshmallow gun.
7. Let dry overnight.

As a side note, you will have leftover materials since PVC only comes in ten foot lengths. Cutting the PVC may be a hassle, as well as painting the gun which
takes awhile. Some people choose to buy these guns completely made since you can find them online at inexpensive prices.

Shooting the Marshallow Gun
First, put a marshmallow in the beginning of the nozzle, the top piece. Do not put it in the barrel. Then blow one big breath of air, not a long weak breath. The bigger and harder the breath, the farther the marshmallow will go. To have even more fun, meet your friends at the park and have a really big marshmallow gun war.

Since you know how to build and shoot a marshmallow gun or shooter, run out to the store and buy your supplies. Before you know it, you will be shooting marshmallows with your own gun.

Meditation-health-03

Would you consider yourself to be in good health? I think a lot of people have the misconception regarding their physical and mental well-being that they're totally fine. This is often not the case. In fact, you may even be far from it. Let's take a look at common health afflictions. First there's diet. If you already eat healthy and avoid junk food, then more power to you. You're on the right track. Secondly there's exercise. This aspect of everyday life is imperative. I'm always amazed at how many people fail to exercise regularly. Your body craves this physical regime. It's what keeps you physically strong and trim. And finally there is mental health. Now, this one is certainly the most over-looked of the three. However, without mental wellness, you can be in all sorts of trouble. Maybe it's time for meditation health. Are you familiar with this concept?

Meditation is a practice that's been around for as long as anyone can recall. Aside from the Westerners, other cultures have been taking full advantage of meditation health for centuries. In fact, we employ this practice in the Chinese martial art I study. It's a way to break free from it all. You can toss aside the stressful and mind-depleting aspects of life. Meditation allows you to enter a realm of complete and utter peace and tranquility. And one of the best parts about meditation health is that you can learn it and practice on your own. This is what I did. Now, there are different ways to approach meditation health. As I mentioned, it's rather common in martial arts circles. This beneficial routine is also found in routines like yoga. My wife recently got interested in meditation health after taking a basic yoga class. So far, she loves it and couldn't be happier. Lord knows she needs an escape from work related stress and the overwhelming projects she takes on.

To learn more about meditation health is simple. There are a number of great books available on this subject that can be purchased on the web. You can also take advantage of meditation retreats with your spouse. This is not only a wonderful way to relax, but it's also great for bonding. Give meditation a shot today.

Vw hops back in time to re-introduce the rabbit

Volkswagen aficionados will be hopping to their local dealerships this summer to welcome the Rabbit back to the German automaker's line.

The fifth-generation Golf is going back to its roots with the original Rabbit nameplate in the U. S. and Canada. The Rabbit was the first Volkswagen and the first foreign car produced in the United States. But it wasn't just its American origins that made it a 1970s icon.

The Rabbit bounced into American hearts with promises of great mileage at a time when the lines at most gas stations snaked around entire city blocks. It also offered a wide array of standard features at an attractive price. But in 1984, the Rabbit badge disappeared to be replaced by the Golf.

"The Rabbit was always exclusive to the U. S. and Canadian markets while the rest of the world had the Golf," said Kerri Martin, Volkswagen's director of brand innovation.

But American Volkswagen customers "want a relationship with their cars," according to Martin. "Names like The Thing, Beetle, Fox and Rabbit support this."

But the 2006 model is hardly your father's Rabbit or Golf. Unlike its predecessor, the new Rabbit is being made in Wolfsburg, Germany. Its $14,990 price tag for the two-door model includes an advanced ABS braking system, traction control, active front head restraints, front side airbags, air conditioning and anti-theft alarm system with remote locking.

The Rabbit's newest features include a standard electro-mechanical steering system and an optional advanced Electronic Stabilization Program. The new model also promises more interior room than ever with a large rear hatch opening and increased legroom.

All new Volkswagens come with 24-hour roadside assistance for four years with unlimited mileage.

Before the new Rabbit even reached the marketplace, it had won more than 25 awards in over 16 countries, including the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's Top Safety Pick, the Silver Award.

The Rabbit - or Golf as it is known throughout the rest of the world - is a best-seller with over 25 million vehicles sold over five generations.

Five pairs of shoes that every woman should have

We know that everyone loves shoes, buys shoes and has many pairs of shoes in their closets. While you might not need all the shoes that you have in your closets, here are five pairs of shoes that every woman should have:

- Great Looking Business Shoes. You need to have a special pair of smart shoes for work. These should look great, and match well with your suit. They will be perfect for interviews, as well as those important presentations and business trips.

They would usually be black shoes with medium size heel, to make you look taller and in control, but still comfortable enough to wear all day.

- Great Looking Shoes to Wear With Jeans. Who wears jeans with sneakers anymore? As jeans are becoming cooler, and more embellished, you need something cuter then a basic sneaker to go with them.

We recommend cool high heel sandals in the summer, or great looking boots in the winter.

- Great Looking Sneakers. You still need to exercise and go to the gym. While you will not wear sneakers with your stylish jeans, you still need sneakers for exercising and walking outside. There are lots of different sneakers on the market now - pick the ones that fit you, and that fit your exercise routine.

- Cool Dressy Shoes. You have that gorgeous dress, and you need matching shoes to go with it. Get something fun and gorgeous to go with the dress. Splurge a little - here the right shoes will make all the difference.

- The Pink Shoes. You know, everyone has at least one pair of completely impractical, bright pink or bright red shoes. You found them at the store, they didn't really match any of your outfits, but you just had to have them.

Which ones of these types of shoes do you have in your closet?

Warm mist home humidifier review

A home humidifier review is the best place to look for information before purchasing an appliance for your home. You have the choice between a whole house humidifier or a portable unit for use in the bedroom. Unless you live in a very dry climate, a single room humidifier should be sufficient.

A review of humidifiers is the best source of information before you start shopping for a unit for your home. Most reviews are separated by type of humidifier. The most common are cool mist or warm mist types. There are benefits to each type. Read about both before you shop.

Once you have decided on the type you want, read reviews of specific models. Reviews have a variety of sources from professional reviews, to consumer reviews. There are even some slick advertisers that are able to disguise their advertising to look like a review.

Consumer sources are great for information about how a particular unit has worked for others. However, they generally don’t give a comparison to other products. A professional review should be unbiased and often will give comparisons between different models. Read from a variety of sources to give you a good picture of a particular model.

Cool Mist Home Humidifier

A cool mist humidifier uses cold water and vibration in creating the mist. Because these machines use only cold water, they are a great choice for the nursery or a younger child’s bedroom. There is no risk of scalding with hot water, like there is with warm mist humidifiers or a steam vaporizer.

Because the water is not heated, these machines have a greater risk of releasing bacteria and mold spores into the air. The stagnant water inside the machine is a perfect breeding ground for microorganisms. Proper cleaning and disinfecting the machine can help prevent this problem. Empty the water after every use. Clean out the machine and use a disinfectant cleaner regularly. Make sure to dry the tank completely. Add fresh water before each use.

A warm mist humidifier uses hot water to create steam in the room. Because the water is heated, there is less risk of bacteria and mold spores in the air. Proper cleaning and maintenance of the machine will eliminate the risk altogether. This includes cleaning and disinfecting the machine regularly and changing filters as needed.

Warm mist machines are great for treating colds and congestion that are so common in the winter. Many allow you to add liquid medications to the water to help relieve symptoms. Because they use hot water, they are often not the best choice for use in a child’s bedroom. There is always the risk of burns if your child pulls the unit down. This is particularly dangerous with infants or young children.

Can t get the staff part one

Hiring reliable, motivated staff to add to your success is becoming harder for employers. Employment Legislation, Data Protection Laws and EU Directives have all created a web in which the average small business owner can easily feel trapped and ensnared. I have trained hundreds of managers to find their way through, and these are some of the ideas I can offer to help you.

IT'S NOT ALL DOOM AND GLOOM. In this article I will show you how you can shift the odds in your favour without spending a fortune on recruitment advertising. This is part one of a series, so look out for updates or contact me for more details.

1 – Designing and advertising the job

Most managers and business owners have been stuck at some point in our careers with the employee from hell, a difficult person who brings havoc to work with them. They take up time, they can sabotage work (and cost you money), and they can affect team morale, dragging their performance down and causing good staff to get fed up and leave.

Some bosses have classified their problem people and among the worst are:

· Moaners – if you want to give great customer service how will this person help?

· Liars – can you trust them with your property?

· Bullies – they don’t just scare the staff: customers will run a mile from them. Sometimes the boss is even scared

· Addicts - drink, drugs, gambling – take your pick. Whatever their weakness, they are Trouble with a capital T

· Lovers – they use the workplace as a free dating agency. It can be fine while romance is blossoming but when the honeymoon’s over the fallout will spill over at work, sometimes with violent results

· Hypochondriacs – never there when you need them

· Gossips – can cause backbiting in the most harmonious team. Good people will get tired of them and leave.

Do these ring any bells? Are you worried about employing the next member of staff? Well read on and you will find out what you can do……

There are lots of things you can do to improve the odds of getting an effective person to fill your next vacancy. A sound job specification is particularly important, and that’s not just HR-speak. It will help avoid complaints of discrimination and helps you select suitable people who can develop into valuable assets for the organisation rather than difficult employees. Write a short job specification – this describes the skills and experience needed to do the job well. Write this up for the job and you will have a set of requirements against which you can filter the applications and decide who to interview. You can include anything that relates to the job – for example Experience, Training, Special Knowledge, Adaptability, Disposition.

For example: you need someone to produce client contracts using Word and Excel. Sounds simple? Fine: let’s ask candidates to do that in a short test, using a simple draft as a starting point. Now we start to find out who can walk their talk. And on the subject of walking, if that’s part of the job, put it in the specification, then they can’t say they didn’t expect to be on their feet all day!

You can recruit without spending a fortune. Before you run into the arms of a recruitment agency, try and compare notes with another local employer. Has anyone found a really good, loyal agency? If so, grab them! Lots of companies use employment agencies to do the work for them, with varying results. They can charge a month’s salary for finding the employee, and once they place them with you they can be ready to tempt them away with the next vacancy – and there’s often nothing you can do about this!

So how do you find the right person? Just be practical – put a small ad in the right advertising medium: often one of the local papers. But also offer it to the local Jobcentre, and tell all your staff that the job is open. There’s no reason not to interview a friend or relative of an existing member of staff, if they meet the basic job requirements. Are there any other free outlets to advertise the job? Set a closing date and interview date(s) when you advertise. This lets the applicant know when they might be asked to an interview, and can save a lot of time in dealing with enquiries.

So you’ve designed a clear, simple job spec, you’ve told everyone that you’re looking for someone good, and now just wait for that flood of applicants to beat a path to your door.

Part Two coming soon, but if you can’t wait that long you can contact me – see my details below.

Ideas for your next cruise

Have you thought about the destination for your next cruise?

Could it be the Caribbean which many cruise ships cruise around. Where will you visit? How about Belize, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grand Antigua, Cayman, South Carolina, Martinique, Barbados, St. Lucia, Louisiana, Texas, Florida, the Bahamas or Mexico. These are all destinations from cruises setting out from places such as Fort Lauderdale.

You could try a cruise in the Mediterranean calling at such destinations such as, Greece, Turkey, Italy, France, Spain, Gibraltar, Portugal and other Mediterranean countries. When visiting Gibraltar you must check out the “Rock” but look out for the Apes. These are known as the Barbary Apes and they want you to feed them. I have seen people being attacked by the apes in their search for food. It can be very scary if it is you being attacked but very funny if you are watching it. If it happens to you just let go of the food and the Apes will leave you alone. It’s the food they are after.

There are other places to cruise in Europe such as Norway, cruising up the coast and fiords visiting isolated communities in the deep-sea valleys on the west coast of Norway. The scenery is dramatic and by cruising above the artic circle you can experience the land of the midnight sun. This sun never sets in summertime but in wintertime it never rises. Because of this you need to make sure you only cruise this area in the summer. Just as much fun as Norway is Alaska where you can get just as dramatic scenery and it is just as much fun.

Some cruise ships in the US spend the winter months cruising the Caribbean and the summer months cruising the West coast of Alaska. These ships need to reposition themselves during the fall and springtime and do this through the Panama Canal. These cruises are highly recommended due to the unique experience of the Panama Canal. The US completed the canal in the early part of the last century although the canal was started by the French. The canal starts at the Gatun locks at the Atlantic side of Panama and travels to the Pacific side which lowers ships over 50 feet in the series of Miraflores Locks. The Panama Canal is one of the wonders of the engineering world.

Cruises do not just take place on the sea though and you could try cruising the rivers of the world. How about the great Mississippi river from New Orleans to Little Rock, St Louis or Pittsburg. Companies also run theme cruises covering themes such as the Civil War, Steamboat racing and special Fall cruises.

You could also try Europe and cruise on the river Rhine, Elbe, Danube, Seine or Rhone rivers to name just a few, or you could try your hand at captaining your own boat on the canal systems in France or the UK. Don’t forget further to the east of Europe there are many other countries offering river cruises. There are also rivers such as the Nile and Amazon as well. Whatever you choose to do, just enjoy yourselves.

H-f-l team is it time to confirm your intentions

As we press forward to achieving our Hundred-Fold-Life. We tend to loose site of the prize. We all know what we are working towards. We must take time to confirm or reconfirm our true intentions.

How do we do it?

I have an exercise that I have done with my Hundred-Fold-Life Team. I have also introduced it my family and friends. Many of you have heard of it or possibly have done it yourself. That's great if you have. Now is a good time to update it.

OK what is it?

It is referred to as an Intention Board.

It is a simple yet powerful exercise to visualize your needs, wants and intentions.

First of all you can make it a party atmosphere. Invite coworkers, employees, and or family members. If you are associated with a MLM group have them come too. This is a fun empowering exercise, so keep it fun.

Next, when you invite your guests have them bring magazines to the party. The best magazines are car, home decor, home furnishings, travel, fashion and financial magazines. Also sports magazines that you or they participate in such as golf skiing, and SCUBA publications. Also needed is scissors glue, "glue sticks work the best", poster board about 22" X 28" (55.9 cm X 71.1 cm). Have everyone spread out and get comfortable with room to work.

Explain the rules.

The rules are simple but important to follow. This is a personal exercise done for you. The only exception is for a couple like a married couple. Still even in a committed relationship we sometime have different personal goals. So it is okay to do your own.

Now this step is crucial.

You must be totally honest with yourself about what you want from life. Everyone must understand from the start to support one another and not judge what the other is doing.

Start cutting out pictures of what you want and what you want to achieve. Go ahead cut out that picture of that new Mercedes Benz, BMW, or Cadillac. If that is one of the things that your working for great. How about that new home? Do you want that mansion or that beach house go for it? Need a new computer for you home business find that perfect one for you. Is it an iMac or a Hewlett Packard? Don't forget playtime. I know I want those new Callaway golf clubs. Be specific in your choices. You want to have a crystal clear picture of what it is that you want or need. Do the kids need to go to college? Find a photo of a graduation ceremony.

I think you get the idea. When everyone is done you can share what's on your board. Remember to be supportive. Some of us have big dream big goals.

When you get home find a place for the board so that you will see it everyday. It will be a constant reminder of why you are working.

You will need to update it about once a year if things change it is easy to paste over something or add something.

Remember the Inspiration Board is there for well inspiration. You must take the next step daily. Act. Act on achieving your goals. You know better than I of what you need to do. So get out there and swing for the fences. You will be well on your way to achieving your Hundred-Fold-Life.

Amethyst jewellery - the most striking jewel

If you are shopping for an amethyst ring then you will be wooed and drawn by its subtly seductive color. Amethyst comes in a striking violet color and it is believed that it will protect you from seduction. How ironical!

For a long-long time, amethyst has been one of the most striking stone from the quartz family and it has adorned the thrones and crowns of prince and princesses. The great Moses said that it is the symbol of the Spirit of God. Its name was derived for the Greek word 'amethystos' meaning not intoxicated. The amethyst is the birthstone of those who were born in the month of February. Over the centuries, many faiths and beliefs have been formed around this magical stone. Some say that it can protect your crops against locusts and storm while others believe that it will bring good fortune in war, destroy evil spirits and enhance the intellect.

Those are man made beliefs but gemstone therapists have a different view. They believe that this magnificent stone can have a cleansing effect on the wearer. But above all the stone symbolizes a strong bond of friendship. In the early ages, amethyst was mostly worn by bishops and cardinals. The hardness of this stone is 7 on the Moh’s scale, and it permits moderate refraction but its crystal structure is most unconventional. The crystal structure construction of the amethyst is stratified and due to this, you will find certain lamellae and areas having varying color intensity.

If you come across a large cut amethyst then you will find that the color is not uniform across the stone. Scientists owe this variation in color to certain iron constituents that are connected to the natural radioactive radiation.

Amethyst also changes its color when heated and it can become yellow or colorless when heated at 400 degrees. There are few rare incidents where people have found bi-colored amethyst and this has been named ametrine.

There are some amethysts that will turn pale or colorless in broad daylight. Although the reason behind this phenomenon still eludes scientists but you can re-color your amethysts by using radium radiation. Since amethysts can lose its color hence it is always advised that amethysts jewelry or rings should not be worn while sunbathing or when you are in a solarium. Apart from the sunlight, even extreme change in temperatures can cause damage to the stone.

The biggest deposit of amethysts has been found in Brazil and Uruguay. The third country that has amethysts deposit is Madagascar. The largest cavity of amethyst was discovered in Rio Grande do Sul in 1900. Diggers found dark violet amethysts that were as big as an adult fist and weighed almost 700 cwt. Today, as compared to diamonds, ruby, and sapphire, the cost of amethysts is much lower but that doesn’t mean it is any less precious. The amethyst is not just another stone, it is a beautiful part of nature that when worn by your loved one will pass on a part of its radiance to her. That’s the magic of Amethyst.

Optimal humidity level preserves your home health

Humidity is important, but too much or too little can produce a host of health problems or cause damage to your home.

When the air in your home is too dry, it can crack the walls and ceilings and shrink the framing around windows and doors, allowing cold air inside and making your home less energy-efficient. Dry air also saps moisture from your body, leading to conditions such as a dry nose, scratchy throat and itchy skin. In addition, when the respiratory system is dry, it is easier for viruses to invade, increasing your chances of getting colds, flu and upper-respiratory problems.

Too much humidity, on the other hand, brings about a different set of problems: wet stains on walls, musty odors and mold. When it comes to your health, too much humidity provides an optimal environment for bacteria, dust mites and fungal growth. All of these can lead to respiratory problems, especially in those with asthma and allergies.

The ideal humidity level is between 30 percent and 60 percent. So how do you strike that delicate balance between too much and too little humidity in your home?

Pick up a hygrometer, a small, inexpensive and easy-to-use instrument that measures the humidity in your house. Place it where the humidity problems are most obvious. Keep it away from direct heat, such as near a radiator or heat register.

Simple changes in your lifestyle can help, such as remembering to open or close windows and doors. Depending on the severity of the problem, you may need to install a whole-home dehumidifier or humidifier, like the ones offered by Aprilaire. These products address humidity issues that affect the entire home and allow homeowners to add or remove just the right amount of moisture for a healthy living environment.

Have a home you can feel safe in

Whether or not the world is getting more dangerous is debatable. However, the safety of your family should always be an issue of concern, and rightly so. Whether you've recently experienced a break in or are just anxious about leaving your children home alone, there are many things you can do to improve security around the house. While nothing is completely fool proof or guaranteed, making a few changes can go a long way in deterring would-be troublemakers and give you some peace of mind.

Trim hedges and shrubbery away from walkways, windows and doors so that the path is visible and no intruders can hide in the landscaping. Install motion detector lights that will flood the area with light upon your arrival or other movement.

Install a wide-angled peephole in your door so that your family can see who is at the door before you answer it. Pair this with a quality door (solid wood is the safest) on a good frame with a decent lock. Invest in door and window braces for other potential entry points in the house.

Get a dog - although they won't deter all thieves, they still have the potential to scare someone off or alert your neighbors. And don't forget the "Beware of Dog" signs, which might be useful even if there's no dog to actually beware of. A monitored alarm system can also be a great deterrent. Post visible signs warning that the house is alarmed, even if you can't afford the real thing.

Varying your schedule can deter thieves who might be watching the house. Using timers to turn lights on and off can give the impression that someone is home. These are also useful when going away for longer periods of time. Setting your radio or television on timers may also give the impression of inhabitants, discouraging thieves.

Also, if you are going away for a while, cancel the newspaper delivery and ask a trusted friend to pick up the mail. If you'll be away in the winter, arrange for snow removal while you're gone. If you're leaving for an extended period in the summer have someone mow your lawn. Don't tell strangers about your trip out of town, but do let your neighbors know so that they can keep an eye on your house. Developing a friendly rapport with the neighbors can help with security - when you know who lives in the neighborhood you're more likely to notice suspicious behavior. Arrange to keep your spare key on the neighbor's property instead of your own.

Don't give thieves any incentives: when you buy new appliances or electronics, don't leave your boxes at the curb for all eyes to see. Break them down and recycle them.

Keep valuables out of sight - don't leave your tools or mountain bikes lying around the yard where thieves might pick them up or be attracted to see what else you've got. Tools can also be used to break into your home, so be sure to keep your shed locked.

Find a good spot to hide your valuables inside your house. A fire safe box may protect your loot from fire, but many of the locks are easily breakable. Safes should be built in to a wall or other structure, well hidden and kept locked. It's also a good idea to list and photograph all your possessions as a record for your insurance company. In the event of a break in, this will help simplify your insurance claim.

Facts vs myths about back pain

Let’s begin by learning some facts in order to separate truth from myth with regards to back pain. First of all, under one percent of acute lower back pain is the result of a serious infection or condition like cancer or a spinal injury. For those under 50, the rate is even lower. Back pain is the number one disability for those under age 45. And it runs second, after the common cold, as the top reason for visiting a healthcare provider in the United States.

“There is nothing really wrong with you.” Myth! Chronic pain sufferers report that doctors generally tell this to about 90 percent of them and it is incorrect. In reality, the majority of low back pain cases or some 90 percent generally come from an unknown cause, like an infection or a particular injury. And the duration of the pain runs generally from four to six weeks. “People don’t die from chronic back pain.” Wrong! The pain combined with depression and anxiety in long-term cases places sufferers at risk for suicide, which does happen from time to

time.

“Most back pain requires surgery.” Myth! On the contrary, under two percent of patients with back pain need surgery. However, back pain is the third top reason for surgery. “Only a small percentage of workers suffer back pain on the job.” Wrong! The top occupational hazard in the USA is back pain.

“Lie down and rest for back pain.” Au contraire. Contrary to popular believe, bed rest can hinder recovery. Health care providers recommend remaining active to decrease down time for patients.

“Men suffer back pain more than women.” Not! With regards to gender issues and back pain, it is a myth that men suffer back pain more than women. In reality, the only main difference is with secondary pain to disk disorders during middle age. However, with regards to race, low back pain is reported more frequently among Caucasians than other races including African Americans. “If a patient’s pain description lacks a regular, consistent pattern, it’s probably imagined or exaggerated.” Myth! No two people, no two cases are totally 100 percent identical. Activities, events, pain and people themselves vary from day to day and there is no 100 percent correct way to describe pain in words to fit a perfectly accurate diagnosis.

Gold piercing body jewelry practical guide

:
Adorning the body with gold is a sensual experience. Gold jewelry for body piercing is extremely popular today, a revival from a long history from the earliest humans on earth. Whether your interest in body piercing stems from the desire to be fashionable, as a status symbol or to heighten your sexual enjoyment, popular demand has increased the number of piercing studios and choices in gold body jewelry.

Today’s body piercing evolved from different cultures across the globe. This ancient art could well be the most widely practiced form of body adornment. It was also practiced by the Romans who saw nipple piercing as a sign of courage, in addition to using them to attach their cloaks. The Kama Sutra from classical India depicts scenes of genital piercing. We find evidence of ears, lips and hands being pierced in South America, Africa and Borneo.

Today body piercing artists have taken this heritage and combined it with modern hygiene and piercing techniques, creating new types of piercings such as the 'diath and rook' invented by Eric Dakota. The most notable change in the nature of body piercing came a few years ago when fashion world models strutted the catwalk with navel and eyebrow piercings, creating a new wave of general public interest. This opened up a new realm of possibilities for people and confirmed to those already in the know the wide extent of the practice.

Practical Guide to Body Piercing

When you decide to have any part of your body pierced, remember that this is more than fashion, it involves your health. It is wise to keep these points in mind:

  • The piercing studio should be registered, check for the appropriate permits and certificates.

  • The person who performs your body piercing should wear gloves, protective clothing, hair covering and should wash their hands before they pierce you.

  • All instruments should be sterilized and all surfaces, including the floor are smooth and wipe able.

  • Only disposable needles should be used, with all dressings (gauze, cotton pads) and gold body jewelry sterile packed.

Piercing Guns

The gold body jewelry used with ear piercing guns are not ideal for piercing for several reasons, first being that the guns cannot be sterilized because they are made of plastic and would melt in the sterilization unit. Second, they do not provide a clean, surgical cut, the jewelry is forced through the tissue, causing extensive trauma, because the ends are rounded, not sharp. Piercings done in this fashion are slow to heal and there is an increased risk of inflammation and/or infection.

After Care

Piercings done with the proper equipment usually take from six to eight weeks to heal at which time the jewelry can be changed without any problem. Quality aftercare of your piercing has a great impact on the amount of time your body needs. Healing is one thing, it takes much more time for the pierced skin to adjust and be accepted by your body. After the initial change, is it s a good idea for the jewelry to be left in the piercing at all times for at least the first six months but a longer period is better.

How to run a flight attendant job search

You know that it's the job for you. You've done all the reading, and you understand that working as a flight attendant isn't all glamour and excitement. You know there's hard work and commitment involved, and that the money - well, no one becomes a flight attendant to get rich, after all. It doesn't matter - you've got your mind made up, and you're about to embark on a flight attendant job search. Here are some tips on conducting a flight attendant job search that will help you find the jobs that you want to apply for.

1. The major airlines are only 10% of the field for your flight attendant job search.

There are over 60 small and mid-size airlines in the United States - over 80 if you add Canadian based airlines as well. While the major airlines have cut back on hiring and have even furloughed flight attendants since 2001, the small airlines are thriving. If you're looking to work with fractional operators and charter services, the flight attendant job search possibilities are even broader. The jobs are out there - you just need to expand the scope of your job search beyond the Big Six.

2. Don't overlook traditional job hunt methods in your flight attendant job search.

Yes, they do advertise in the local paper's help wanted sections. You'll also find recruitment ads for the airlines in industry publications, so if you're serious about finding a job as a flight attendant, get yourself subscribed to aviation newsletters and magazines.

3. Harness the power of the Internet to get your flight attendant job search into high gear.

Do check the usual suspects. You'll find listings for flight attendant open houses and job openings on Monster, HotJobs! and other Internet job sites. You'll also find listings for flight attendant job opportunities on some of the major newspaper's want ad pages.

But don't stop with the job listings on the job search engines. Because aviation is so industry specific, you'll find the biggest concentrations of job openings and listings on aviation industry specific sites. A simple search for 'flight attendant jobs' will pull up several job search sites specifically for those in aviation. Check them out carefully and join one or two. Even better, find a discussion forum for flight attendants and join that. You can post questions, read information from working flight attendants and keep your eyes peeled for announcements of open houses.

4. Apply on the company web site.

Many airlines now have a link for you to upload your resume when you're doing a flight attendant job search. While they may not be hiring when you check, enter your information anyway so that they can send you an invitation when they do mass job interviews and informational meetings in your area.

5. Networking is still the number one way to find a job.

Like any other job, it's often who you know that gets your foot in the door in a flight attendant job search. Let people know you're looking - let everyone know you're looking. You might never know that your great Aunt Lucy's next door neighbor's daughter is a flight attendant if you don't mention that you're looking for a job working for an airline - but it just might be your ticket into the industry.

Whatever you do, do treat your flight attendant job search seriously. Look at the ads daily, and be sure to have a professional resume and cover letter ready to send out to any job openings that you find.

Personal liability on business credit cards

If the business does not meet these criteria, the business credit card issuers will use the credit history of the principal making the business credit card application as their basis for evaluating credit risk.

Do note that most business credit card issuers will not approve your application for a business credit card unless you agree to the personal liability provision. This essentially makes a business credit card the same as a personal credit card from a personal liability point of view. Hence, whenever your business fails to repay the business credit cards, the issuer may invoke the personal liability agreement in order to collect payment from the business credit card principal.

Because of this personal liability provision on your business credit card application, your personal credit reports will also contain a record of your business credit card history. You will therefore damage your personal credit score if you make late payments on your business credit cards. If your business accumulates a big debt, it will inflate your personal debt burden and cause you to appear overextended.

The personal liability agreement, however, is not always cast in concrete. If you can show that you diligently make your regular payments, you should be able to convince the issuer of business credit cards to remove the provision after a few years. It would really be up to the issuers whether they decide to grant you your request or not. Nonetheless, you could always try to negotiate with them. Whatever the case may be, endeavor to have the business establish its own credit history. This will eventually allow you to separate your small business credit card from your personal credit records.

You must be aware that since business credit cards are not intended to be used by consumers, the consumer protections applicable to personal credit card are not necessarily present in business credit cards. When making use of personal credit cards, the law grants you the right to dispute billing errors on your account within the specified period of time. Within this period, the card issuer cannot mark the disputed amount delinquent or cancel the card. This particular right of the consumer is not applicable to the holders of business credit cards.

When you receive ordered merchandise in poor condition, you cannot dispute the charges and in case the vendor refuses to cooperate, request the business credit card company to intervene on your behalf – as they do in the case of personal credit cards. With business credit cards, you are largely on your own.

So, should you carry a small business credit card rather than a personal credit card? The answer is: Yes. Once your business has established its track record, you can separate personal and business finances. That will work well – both for you and your business.

Persuasion through isolation

Last year I saw a documentary about the cult leader Jim Jones called "Jonestown: The Life And Death of People's Temple". It is the history of the murder/"suicide" of 913 members of the People's Temple in Guyana through photos, clips, recordings and interviews of surviving members.

The Reverend Jim Jones was a master at getting people to join his "ministry" because he reached out to people who were disenfranchised and he preached equality. This appealed to a larger community and he expressed caring and was able to eventually use his power to persuade the followers to drink cyanide-laced cherry Flavor Aid.

This is a very disturbing example of evil persuasion through isolation, charismatic authority and all of this in relationship to brainwashing and manipulation.

There are two kinds of isolation--physical and mental. Jim Jones used both.

Physical isolation isn't always possible for some cults, MLM companies or religions. It's possible they may employ both kinds of isolation, but normally the mental isolation is enough to keep their members involved. They begin to "divide and conquer" the members by suggesting that anyone who doesn't support their choice in life of belonging to the group/cult/religion/MLM, is not looking out for their best interest.

When isolation is used by someone who has bad intentions, it is a very dangerous tool.

Isolation can also be used for sales or business on a more reputable level.

Mental isolation is most effective with customers/clients/prospects who you see on a regular basis. Lots of small interactions tend to create more loyalty. Cafes are a good example of this. It's competitive. People have many choices from chains to locally owned chains to independently owned mom and pop cafes.

Recently I was in a locally owned cafe where the owner sparked up a conversation and suggested their product was not generic, it was high quality and didn't cost a fortune like the most famous national chain. If you are invested in a home grown, grass roots type of existence, this remark might be preaching to the choir. Alternately, if you're someone who doesn't pay much attention to things like that, then it might plant a seed or it might just float right past you.

Some religions use isolation in terms of imposing rules about what is and what is not okay to talk about with non-members or "outsiders".

I consider myself a very spiritual person and this is in no way a judgment about religion. it's just a way to illustrate persuasion and how the persuasion of isolation is used to indoctrinate members of a given group.

Creating a shared experience is another way to create a psychological isolation. This can be accomplished in business by having a retreat or conference. It can be used to reward employees. Shared tragedy also has this effect. Think of 9/11 wives/survivors, New Orleans residents who were at the Superdome, Gulf War veterans. All of these groups have incredibly powerful bonds and there is the potential for them to become very committed to each other.

The final strategy in isolation is to 'predict the future'. Sales people do this all the time in response to the 'shop around' objection. "Sure, go ahead. But X shop doesn't have our selection (return policy, prices, etc.)" Cults use this future predicting by telling new members that their "choice" in joining will be ridiculed by friends and family. The cult leaders offer this as "proof" that the new member's family and friends obviously don't care about them as much as the group does. 'If they really cared about you, wouldn't they be glad that you found something to make you happy?'

I urge you to use this information with integrity and honesty. Failing to do so will most definitely come back to bite you.

Laser hair removal a basic understanding

Laser hair removal is one of the newest cosmetic procedures available today. The process is to permanently remove hair from any part of your body that you wish by the use of a light at a designated wavelength, which is projected into the skin by way of a laser hand held instrument.

What the laser accomplishes, after it's reached into the interior of the skin, is to focus on the hair's pigment. The laser destroys the follicle of the hair but does not damage the remaining hair tissue around it.

While laser hair removal can be quite effective and has been so for many, it is new, and, as compared with older hair removal treatments, relatively untested. What this means is that we really don't know yet just how safe or unsafe it might be and the potential for side effects. The other issue with the newness of this laser hair removal process is that no one has used it for long enough to have continuity of statistics that would indicate the rate of response to the laser hair removal treatment and the rate at which the hair grows back after each laser hair removal treatment.

Two of the most important elements to consider in qualifying potential laser hair removal candidates are skin color and hair color.

1. Skin Colour. Light skin makes laser hair removal easier to perform. Due to the lighter pigmentation, the laser hair removal results happen more quickly. Fewer treatments are required, and better, faster results are obtained. People with darker skin can be treated, but results are slower. They just have to be content with the knowledge that it will take longer to see results and a greater number of treatments are probably going to be needed.

2. Hair Colour. Laser hair removal works best on dark hair. The reason for the difference is the pigment pheomelanin, which is found only in red or blonde hair. It is very hard for a laser to penetrate pheomelanin. On the other hand, the laser goes easily through eumelanin, the pigment found in black and brown hair.

Treatment costs can add up to more than $1,000 as multiple treatment sessions may be necessary to obtain optimal results. This is largely due to the fact that laser hair removal is most effective for hair which is in the anagen phase (the growth phase). Since hair grows in cycles, not all of the hairs are in the anagen phase at any given time. Thus, more sessions are necessary to target hairs while they are in anagen.

How much and how long an individual respond to complete hair removal by laser hair removal differ from case to case. So, no hair removal clinics can guarantee 100% permanent results by a certain period. Consumers are nevertheless well advised, to consult with licensed professional and reputable laser hair removal centers.

Throat singing in inuit culture

Originally, Inuit throat singing was a form of entertainment among Inuit women while the men were away on hunting trips. It was an activity that was primarily done by Inuit women although there have been some men doing it as well. In the Inuit language Inuktitut, throat singing is called katajjaq, pirkusirtuk or nipaquhiit depending on the Canadian Arctic region. It was regarded more as a type of vocal or breathing game in the Inuit culture rather than a form of music.

Inuit throat singing is generally done by two individuals but can involve four or more people together as well. In Inuit throat singing, two Inuit women would face each other either standing or crouching down while holding each other's arms. One would lead with short deep rhythmic sounds while the other would respond. The leader would repeat sounds with short gaps in between. The follower would fill in these gaps with her own rhythmic sounds. Sometimes both Inuit women would be doing a dance like movement like rocking from left to right while throat singing. Sounds produced can be voiced or unvoiced and produced by inhalation or exhalation. Both Inuktitut words and meaningless syllables are used in Inuit throat singing songs. However, when words are used in throat singing, no particular meaning is placed on them for a song. When meaningless syllables are used, they are often portrayals of sounds the Inuit hear in their natural environment such as animal sounds or even water running down a creek. Popular Inuit throat singing songs are usually identified by the first word or sound that is produced in each song.

Inuit throat singing is a skill that has to be taught and developed. Inuit throat singers try to show their vocal abilities in a fun competitive manner and the first one to either run out of breath, stop or laugh is declared the loser of the game. Each game usually lasts from one to three minutes. In a group of Inuit women, the overall winner is the one who beats the largest number of her competitors in this fun filled activity.

Unfortunately, there is no written record of when the Inuit first developed their form of throat singing which differs from the type found in Mongolia and other parts of the world that has some form of throat singing. The Inuit did not keep any written records and history was simply passed down from generation to generation orally. It was reported that at one point in time, Inuit women would actually have their lips almost touching while using each other's mouth cavity as a sound resonator. This technique is not used anymore.

Inuit throat singing was actually forbidden by Christian priests for almost 100 years but since this religious ban was lifted, there has been a resurfacing of this traditional activity in the Inuit communities during the last 20 to 30 years. Interestingly enough, there has been a lot of interest among the younger Inuit generations in this revival in addition to the Inuit elders who are trying to bring throat singing back as part of present Inuit culture. Many of the young Inuit women who have taken up throat singing claim that it is a way for them to express their Inuit identities in the modern world where many Inuit traditions have already been lost. The revival of Inuit throat singing has been so popular that in September of 2001, the first throat singing conference was held in Puvernituk, Nunavik where different types of Inuit throat singing from different Arctic regions of Canada were demonstrated and shared. There has even been a small number of Inuit throat singing CDs produced.

How to stop being lazy

I know. I've been there. You have long to-do list waiting, but instead, you find yourself oversleeping, watching TV or wasting time in other unproductive activities.

It obviously comes from a combination of low energy, and a lack of motivation and self-discipline.

Try to figure out what causes it.

If you have too much on your mind and find it hard to even start thinking about all the things you have to do, it's time write it down. Write everything that comes to your mind, things to do, things to think about, things that bother you. You'd probably realize soon enough, that things aren't as bad as you thought.

You may need to change the way you do your "self talk". Do you talk to yourself like a parent talks to a child? You're a grownup now. It's time to change the way you think about tasks and responsibilities. Instead of thinking "YOU have to do this", think - "I want to do this because…" and give yourself a really good reason why.

You may not be getting enough rest from your sleep. Learn how to improve the quality of your sleep. When your sleep is optimized, you could actually sleep less, but have more energy then you've had before, when you slept longer.

Start by reducing the amount of caffeine you get during the day, especially in the evening. Remember, caffeine is not present only in coffee, but also in soda, tea and chocolate, to name a few.

You need to go sleep when you're tired, which brings me to my next point…

Have you noticed that the times that you're most tired are the times that you have no reason to be? You know what I'm talking about. You just woke up from a long nap and since then all you've been doing is lay on the coach, but still, all you want to do is rest, and sleep.

It's a bit of a paradox, but when your activity level is very low, so is your energy level. Start moving yourself. If exercising is too much for you, the least you can do is stretch. Also, climb the stairs instead of taking the elevator, walk those few yards to the grocery store instead of driving to it, Play with your dog, or your kids.

A few changes in your diet could greatly increase your energy level. You should probably start by doubling the amount of water you drink daily. Also, instead of starting your day with coffee and a muffin, how about serial and orange juice?

These were just a few ideas to get you started, but you have to find the power within you, and become determined enough to change your ways.

Earl Nightingale once said: "The key that unlocks energy is desire. It's also the key to a long and interesting life. If we expect to create any drive, any real force within ourselves, we have to get excited".

Good luck.

Five rules for social video optimization

The popularity of social video sites like YouTube, Yahoo Video, iFilm, blinkx is undeniable. YouTube alone receives more than 65,000 video uploads and plays 100 million clips every day. By 2010, video enthusiasts will consume 44 billion user generated video clips. This represents 55% of all the video content viewed by US consumers. In the future, user generated videos may even end up on your television screen through the cables and satellites. YouTube has already announced incorporating the revenue sharing possibility with the creators of these video streams. Other sites may follow soon. You will be able to monetize your video contents and allow others to discover your skills and talents for better jobs or other lucrative offerings. To maximize the impact of your creativity, you need to know the kind of contents you have to produce and effectively present those contents in the video sharing sites.

The social video optimization is not about optimizing your videos for high search engine ranking (SEO). It is about making your videos for others to enjoy and learn from (providing benefits to people) and publishing those videos in social video and social media websites for viewers to easily discover, bookmark, and share for a viral effect.

1. Provide benefits. Offer something that will benefit others. It may be funny video clips, a series of “how-to” videos, an unusual moment, etc. Don't upload any violent clips. Though these clips are popular in video sharing sites, most of the time they don't provide any real value to the society. Unless the violence has journalistic value, don’t embrace it for amusement. Funny clips are popular. Kids and pets provide plenty of opportunities to capture hilarious moments. If you have plumbing skills, offer a series of short "how to" videos on fixing things around the house. A computer geek can channel her skills in developing short videos on how to setup a home network. Plenty of opportunities are available. Find your niches and work in those areas. If you are comedian, create short stand-up comedy routine videos. The bottom line is to create themes and produce a series of videos based on each theme.

2. Provide enhanced viewing experience. People do not want to watch a full-length movie in a video-sharing site. A clip should not be more than 10 minutes long. Buy a cell phone with a good quality camera for capturing those unexpected moments. Otherwise, use a digital video camera for making your clips. Use a free online video editing sites like http://cuts. com for cutting video scenes, inserting title and sound effects, etc.

3. Create your brand. Companies spend millions to establish and promote brands. Why should not you? Brand recognition is very powerful and it may set you apart from others. Insert a few frames at the start and end of every video you create to introduce yourself, your skills and talents. People like to associate with real persons rather than some unknown entities. Tell them what this video is all about. Make it short. Setup a blog and provide your blog URL in the introductory and conclusionary frames. Make the blog URL short for people to remember it easily.

4. Make it discoverable. This is like marketing your video on the video sharing sites. If you don't do it properly, your contribution will be lost in the sea of video clips. Provide a short and catchy title with keywords related to your video. Relevant keywords will help locate your clips when people do a search. A catchy title in the search results will draw viewers' attention. Learn from the titles others are using by doing a search using your keywords in YouTube and other similar sites. The same goes for the description. Use relevant keywords but make it interesting to arouse curiosity. Write in the natural language and avoid adjectives. Let the users decide the quality of your presentation.

Tags are everywhere now a day. It is a keyword, not a keyword phrase. You should provide tags for your uploaded contents. If your titles and descriptions are relevant to your videos, you already have a few tags. Besides the tags you have already collected from your title and description use one or more tags to closely identify your content to the categories available in the site. For example, on YouTube you have categories like "autos and vehicles", "comedy", "howto" etc. If your video is about how to fix a flat tire, use additional tags like "tire", "car", etc. Add a few additional tags to describe the least important thing in your video. In the "fix a flat tire" video example, you can add tags like "stems", "valve", etc. Use as many tags as you can accommodate in the tag text box.

5. Relax and enjoy. You may be wondering why this is a rule. This is a rule because you do not want to feel the burnout. Enjoy what you are doing. Have a passion for your creative works. Don't think about how much money you are going to make by producing these videos. This is not going to make you rich overnight or within a very short time span. What is important is that you are pursuing something that you like. If the society is benefiting from your creative works, you will get adequate monetary rewards.

Chinese symbol tattoos - a beginners guide

Chinese symbol tattoos are rapidly growing in popularity all round the world. In fact, more than six thousand people search for the phrase "Chinese Tattoos" on the internet every single day.

But that's not surprising as Chinese symbol tattoos are extremely beautiful and mysterious. Thanks to the movies and popular culture, most people in the west can recognise these Chinese symbols but can't understand them. So that makes these tattoos a rather exotic form of self expression.

But beyond that, there are other more gender specific reasons for the popularity of these tattoo designs.

Women are attracted to the numerous subtle meanings and over-arching themes that the Chinese symbols can express, such as hope, freedom and love. Men, on the other hand, are drawn to Chinese symbol tattoos because in western culture they're strongly associated with martial arts movies.

So if you're considering getting a Chinese tattoo, here's a quick beginners guide to Chinese symbols.

The system of Chinese writing began more than 4000 years ago and doesn't have an alphabet. This is perhaps the biggest difference for non Chinese people to understand.

Instead, Chinese writing relies upon a large number of symbols that represent spoken ideas or concepts. Each symbol represents a different spoken word.

In 1710 AD the Kangxi Dictionary was created by imperial decree and contained more than 47,000 symbols. However, since then that number has risen to more than 70,000 symbols to represent the growing number of nuances and meanings in the modern language.

But having said that, the average Chinese person only needs to know around 5,000 of these Chinese symbols to be able to read and understand anything that's written in Chinese.

Can anything be written in Chinese symbols?

Thanks to the sheer number of symbols available, anything can be translated into Chinese. Even the most subtle meanings and nuances can be achieved using a combination of symbols.

What is Kanji?

Kanji is the term used to describe Chinese symbols that have been adapted to mean Japanese words. The meaning of the symbols in Chinese and Japanese can be the same but they may be pronounced differently. Alternatively, they may express completely different ideas.

Can I get my name, or someone else's name, translated into Chinese Symbols?

Yes, of course. But it's worth bearing a couple of things in mind. First, Chinese names are written in reverse order, which means that your last name appears before your first name. Second, if your name is foreign to the Chinese language, symbols will have to be selected that represent your spoken name.

As you can see, the whole issue of Chinese writing is extremely complex, so the first major rule when you're getting a Chinese symbol tattoo is to...

Make Sure That Your Chosen Words Are Correctly Translated

Before you allow anyone to put a tattoo needle anywhere near your skin, make sure that you have discussed your chosen design with someone who can understand Chinese writing. And make sure that they are used to advising people about the meaning of Chinese symbols for use in tattoos.

Whatever happens, resist the temptation to ask the first Chinese person that you know to check the meaning of your intended design. They may not know the exact meaning that you want and provide you with the wrong symbol.

For example, one women asked a waiter at her local Chinese restaurant to draw the Chinese symbol for free on a napkin. Unfortunately, this English word can be translated into Chinese in one of two ways. She wanted "Freedom" he gave her the symbol for "Free of charge".

So consult a Chinese speaking tattoo specialist and you'll avoid the permanent embarrassment of a Chinese tattoo that doesn't mean what you thought it did.

The second rule of getting a successful Chinese symbol tattoo is to...

Get A Custom Design

To create a high quality tattoo, your artist will need a quality design to work from. So it's important to spend some money on getting a custom design professionally made to your order. This will provide you with a crisp, clear Chinese tattoo that means what you think it does.

Okay, you could search the internet and find a free translation service, but in most cases the end result will be a small and poorly defined image which is unsuitable for creating a quality tattoo. If you find a tattoo artist who is prepared to use such a poor design you'll end up with a blurred mess which may have lost its meaning.

Chinese symbol tattoos represent a highly individual and beautiful way to express your personality. If you follow these basic guidelines you will be rewarded with a unique piece of body art which will last you for the rest of your life.

Why you should go online for the finest ingredients

If you live just around the corner from a farm shop which stocks the finest cuts of organic meat, vegetables, cheese and other goodies from local farms, you are lucky. If you don’t, you should pay a visit to some of the farm shops and other fine food retailers which have sprung up online.

Since the supermarkets have come to dominate the marketplace for day to day groceries, the best online food shops have differentiated themselves by offering a specialist quality and variety which the supermarkets are unable to match. As a result, for dinner parties and special occasions, your best bet for top quality ingredients may be an online butchers or farm shop.

Take venison, for example. If you are lucky enough to find a supermarket which stocks venison, the range is likely to be limited. But if you go online, you can buy directly from the highly acclaimed Fletchers hill farm in Fife, where they stock a huge range of fine venison products from their own free range herd. (See http://www. seriouslygoodvenison. co. uk). This enables you to buy the finest venison joints, fillets, sausages and other products, confident not only of the quality but also of the ethical farming practices behind them.

Other online farm shops specialize in organic produce. For example, Graig Farm has picked up numerous organic food awards for its extensive range of organic meat, vegetables and other produce, sourced from a group of organic farms in mid-Wales. (See http://www. graigfarm. co. uk).

For succulent meat of all kinds, from beef and lamb to wild game, free range poultry, fish and seafood, pay a visit to Donald Russell. (http://www. donaldrussell. com). The meat they supply will cost you more than supermarket meat, but the quality is outstanding. Indeed, they are so confident in their produce that they guarantee your money back if you’ve ever tasted better!

Most of us cannot afford to enjoy meals made with the finest ingredients every day of the week, but for parties, Christmas and other special occasions, you can afford to spoil yourself. For more top quality online food shops, have a browse around the food and wine quarter in Ootown, the online town (http://www. ootown. co. uk/food).

H r block tax changes to affect millions this year

Major tax law changes and missed credits will affect millions of taxpayers this year.

There are new guidelines for claiming child-related benefits and new tax breaks for hurricane victims and charitable donors. The alternative minimum tax (AMT) is on track to snare almost 4 million taxpayers this year, and millions more will fail to claim credits for their higher education expenses.

Miss out on these changes, and you could be joining the millions of Americans overpaying their taxes by $1 billion each year by missing credits and deductions.

To help taxpayers understand these issues, H&R Block is kicking off the tax season by mobilizing its network of more than 70,000 tax professionals. H&R Block tax professionals will be hitting the streets across America, delivering free advice on tax topics with the most widespread impact.

"Our tax experts have identified five major tax areas that deserve special attention by taxpayers this year," said Tim Gokey, president of the U. S. Tax Division of H&R Block.

Here are the top five things you need to know about taxes this year:

1. Claiming child-related benefits: A new "uniform definition of a child" changes how taxpayers can claim child dependents. Anyone with a child may gain or lose important tax benefits due to the changes.

2. Hurricane relief and charitable giving: New tax breaks benefit those impacted by hurricanes along the Gulf Coast and individuals who contributed to the relief efforts.

3. Alternative minimum tax: The number of taxpayers paying the AMT will soar from nearly 4 million in 2005 to almost 20 million in 2006 if the law remains unchanged.

4. Earned income tax credit: It makes the list every year, but 25 percent of eligible families fail to claim this credit, which is worth an average of $1,760.

5. Education-related benefits: Nearly 27 percent of eligible taxpayers fail to claim education tax benefits. Evaluating which education tax break provides the greatest savings - the Lifetime Learning Credit, the Hope Credit and Tuition and Fees Deduction - can be difficult because of odd phaseouts and varying eligibility guidelines.
